Configuring a WordPress theme
After activating a theme, you will be guided to the setup process. This process involves the installation of plugins, importing content, and configuring your theme settings:
Step 1: Getting Started
In the initial step, you will be informed about the currently active theme. To initiate the setup process, simply click the Start button.
Step 2: Plugin Installation
During the second step, the Installer will handle the installation of all necessary plugins. If you wish to view the list of plugins to be installed, click the Advanced button. To begin the plugin installation process, click the Install button.
Step 3: Importing Demo Content
To review the content that will be imported, click the Advanced button. Once you are ready, click the Import button to initiate the import process for the demo content. Please note that the duration of this process may vary depending on your chosen theme and hosting provider, typically taking a few minutes.
There is also a traditional method of installing a theme demo. It may take a bit longer compared to the previous method, but it will yield the same results. Prior to importing the theme demo content, you must first download it as a .xml file. Follow these steps to import the demo content:
Log in to your WordPress admin panel and go to Tools → Import.
Install the One-click Demo Importer Plugin to assist with this process. Once the installation is complete, click on the “Activate Plugin & Run Import” link.
In the plugin interface, click on the “Choose File” button.
Browse your computer files to locate the .xml file you previously downloaded, then click “Open.”
After adding the file, click on the “Upload file and import” button.
Select the authors you want to assign to the imported posts. You can choose an existing author or create a new one.
Check the box for “Download and import file attachments.”
Finally, click on the “Submit” button and patiently wait for the import process to complete.
